Police say the 17-year-old girl was recovered three days after she
went missing; investigation continues under provisions of the BNS, POCSO Act and SC/ST Act
MUZAFFARNAGAR: Police have arrested two men, identified in reports as Nazim and Mohammad Adil, in connection with the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl from the Kotwali Nagar area.
According to police-linked reports, the minor was reported missing on 18 August 2026. A case was initially registered at Kotwali Nagar Police Station, and investigators reportedly examined footage from approximately 600 CCTV cameras while tracing her movements and those of the suspects.
The girl was reportedly recovered on 21 August 2026. After her statement was recorded and other investigative procedures were completed, additional criminal provisions were added to the case. Her identity has been withheld because she is a minor and an alleged survivor of a sexual offence.
Arrests and Police Action
Police reportedly traced Nazim near the Kali Nadi bridge. During the operation, he allegedly opened fire while attempting to escape. Police returned fire, and he sustained a gunshot injury to his leg before being taken into custody.
Authorities reportedly recovered a country-made firearm and cartridges from him. A separate criminal case concerning the alleged encounter has also been registered.
Mohammad Adil, who has been described in reports as being associated with Alpha Clinic on Mimlana Road, was arrested separately. One report stated that he was apprehended near the Shamli bus stand.
The survivor’s statement, medical examination, CCTV footage and witness accounts are expected to form part of the ongoing investigation. Police have not publicly disclosed all details because the matter concerns a minor.
Case Details
The main case has reportedly been registered as FIR/Case Crime No. 360/2026 at Kotwali Nagar Police Station, Muzaffarnagar. Reports refer to Sections 137(2), 64(1) and 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Reported Action Against Clinic
Following the arrests and public reaction, administrative action was reportedly taken against Alpha Clinic, also referred to as Alpha Nursing Home, on Mimlana Road. Local reports state that the establishment was closed or sealed and that the medical registration associated with Mohammad Adil was suspended pending further orders.
A departmental report reportedly cited registration number D.A.U.O./MZN/060/IPD-04, recorded on 2 July 2026, with OPD services and four beds. Any administrative proceeding against the clinic is separate from the criminal prosecution.
Public Reaction
The incident reportedly triggered protests and a community meeting at Ramlila Tilla, where participants demanded a speedy investigation, strict legal action and prosecution of everyone found responsible. Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
Legal note: Nazim and Mohammad Adil are accused persons and have not been convicted. The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial determination. The presumption of innocence applies unless guilt is established by a competent court.
